Chinese internet behemoths Baidu, Alibaba, and other smaller start-ups have been working on AI technology projects for years, just like Microsoft and Google.

China is already experiencing the global buzz surrounding Microsoft‘s chatbot ChatGPT, which has boosted shares of companies involved in artificial intelligence (AI) and prompted a flurry of local businesses to unveil competing projects.
Chinese tech heavyweights like Baidu and Alibaba, as well as more modest start-ups, have been working on AI projects for years, much like Microsoft and Google.
Chinese chatbots mostly focus on social interactions, whereas ChatGPT excels at more professional jobs like programming and essay writing by learning from a massive quantity of data how to respond to user prompts in a human-like manner.
Chinese tech firms that have recently announced developments in AI technology are listed below:
Baidu
On February 7, Baidu Inc. announced that internal testing of a ChatGPT-inspired project called “Ernie Bot” will be finished in March.
Alibaba

The decision was made as tech firms around the world attempt to capitalise on the enthusiasm produced by ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI. Users can compose essays, produce code, and ask ChatGPT questions on a range of subjects.
A type of artificial intelligence known as generative AI, which can be used to generate text or images, includes ChatGPT. Its huge language model allows it to comprehend and produce dialogue by using vast amounts of data.
According to Alibaba, generative AI has been a focus of its efforts since 2017. When its ChatGPT counterpart may go live was not specified by the corporation.
