Man caught from House lobby at West Bengal Assembly claims to have entered with ‘Governor’s permission’
Introducing himself as MLA Manoj Tiwary, a person entered the West Bengal assembly during the multi-level security.
A person named Gajanan Verma entered the West Bengal Legislative Assembly on Wednesday by pretending to be an MLA. Pretending to be Manoj Tiwari, MLA from Howrah’s Shibpur assembly constituency, Gajanan Verma managed to enter the assembly lobby when he was caught and handed over to the Hare Street police station. Verma saved himself by questioning the security of the assembly.
The incident took place on a day when the West Bengal government was presenting the state budget in the assembly. “The security personnel inquired about his identity when they found him engaging in the lobby, session related questions to people on how to come inside the House to see the budget. First, he introduced himself as an MLA, but did not produce an identity card as there was no identity card. We informed the marshal. Who called the police,” an official told news agency PTI.

Verma said he was ‘sent by Governor CV Anand Bose’ and was allowed inside the assembly. After listening to such things, it is believed that he is mentally unstable. The reason why all these words are one. Then the point is how did the security personnel allow this disrespect to come. The incident raised questions about the security of allowing Verma into the lobby. The police are investigating the matter.”We found that the man had lost his wife and son a few years ago, due to which he was facing some problems,” officials said. He lives with his grandson.
Police said they are probing the security lapse due to which the man entered the assembly premises. We are trying to ascertain whether he had some other motive, he said.

Budget Presented
The state budget was presented in West Bengal on Wednesday. However, a strange incident was witnessed in the West Bengal Assembly during the budget. In fact, a person claiming to be an MLA entered inside the Vidhansabha. After this fake MLA entered inside the Vidhansabha, questions have started to arise regarding the security of the House. The great thing is that this incident happened at a time when the state’s budget was being done by Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya (independent charge).
Rs 3.39 lakh crore budget presented in West Bengal Assembly

Minister of State for Finance (Independent Charge) Chandrima Bhattacharya presented a budget of Rs 3.39 lakh crore for the financial year 2023-24 in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. Last year a budget of Rs 3.21 lakh crore was presented. A budget of seven crore rupees has been presented for the financial year 2023-24. Before the Panchayat elections in the state, special attention has been paid to schemes related to rural development, youth, women and social welfare in the budget. A three percent increase in dearness allowance has been announced for government employees, municipal workers, teachers and pensioners.
