US Secretary Responds to their support to Ukraine

However, the US official’s response to Ukraine’s attempts to retake Crimea is quite unclear.US Secretary of state Anthony Bilken meet a group of experts and expressed the tension over the retake of Crimea. Bilken stated that it could lead to severe retaliation from Russia. Crimea is a red line for Putin.
In a zoom meeting, Bilken was asked about Ukraine’s attempts and how the USA is supporting them. Bilken, however, responded that its Kyiv’s decision alone. We don’t encourage the retake of Crimea as of now.
Some analysts see this as a major turn from USA positioning. They are seen as stopping Ukraine from getting Crimea back.
This also puts Kyiv in a confusing position and uncertainty hangs over him.
Putin tension increases

Russia is alarmed by the attempts and has started escalating the military in southern Ukraine. Vladimir Putin thinks Crimea is part of Russia and cannot lose it. Losing Crimea to Vladimir Putin would be a major death blow.
On Friday, Russia accused the USA of supporting Ukraine over Crimea and escalating the war further. The Spokesperson of Russian Foreign Minister Maria Zakharova said that the USA is helping Ukraine in inciting the war further by supplying weapons, sharing intelligence etc.
World leaders meeting in Munich Security Conference – Germany
As of now, there is uncertainty about how things will go from here. The Munich Security Conference happening in Germany is going to be dominated by the Russia- Ukraine crisis. Kamala Harris is also attending the conference which might clear their stand on the whole situation.
However, Russia is banned from attending the conference after 20 years. The retake of Crimea will be a major point of confrontation and discussion. The future steps and strategies will be discussed in dealing with the Ukraine crisis.
