In a major change of events David Warner has been ruled out from the remaining ‘Border-Gavaskar’ test series owing to the excruciating hairline fracture which he suffered in Arun Jaitley stadium, Delhi. It was a result of Mohammad Siraj’s fast bowling hitting the elbow of the veteran opener which led to a concussion replacing him with Mathhew Renshaw.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy
In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India and Australia alone compete in the Test cricket series. It is played through the International Cricket Council. The series bears the names of two illustrious former captains: Allan Border of Australia and Sunil Gavaskar of India. Cricket matches between the two countries have always been intense affairs. The importance of the series is further fueled by Australia’s goal to defeat India in a Test match series in India, something they had not done since 1969–1970 until their success in the 2004–05 series. With only two Test series losses since 1986–1987, India has earned a reputation for being exceptionally hard to defeat at home. Contrarily, until the 2018–19 Test series, India had never been able to win a Test series in Australia. Yet, they continued their winning ways in the 2020–21 Test series, keeping the trophy for two trips away from home.

Current Status
In 2023 after India won by 132 runs over Australia in Nagpur. The second Test between India and Australia in Delhi was scheduled to finish on February 21, but the hosts were able to win the match rather quickly because of the skill of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The majority of the Indian players have returned home for a little rest while the Australian players are lounging around in the national capital area. On February 25, they will reunite in Indore for the third Test.

David Warner pulled off
Australia endured a major setback with David Warner pulled off from the current Ind vs Aus test series. During Australia’s first innings, India fast bowler Mohammad Siraj struck Warner on the grille of his protective batting helmet. Warner was subsequently pulled out of the second Test in Delhi with a concussion. Prior to the punch, Warner had taken a rising delivery to the arm, and x-rays later revealed the 36-year-old had also suffered an elbow hairline fracture. In the second Test, which they lost by six wickets to fall behind Rohit Sharma and his team 2-0, Matt Renshaw was brought in as a replacement.

Scores by Warner in Current Test
As an opener Warner did not have a very good start managing meagre 1, 10 and 15 .His overall average score came down to only 21 runs in both the innings. Warner is expected to go back to Sydney for his treatment and is still uncertain if he would be playing the three one day internationals in Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
Statement of Australian Cricket
Australia Cricket mentioned that he has been ruled out of Qantas test tour and on assessing his evaluation status it requires him to undergo rehabilitation following evaluation which might prevent him from participating in the remaining Test series. He’s expected to return to India for the three One-Day Internationals that come after the Test Series.
Australia’s persistent nightmare
Recipe for disaster continues for Australia with Josh Hazlewood already ruled out of Australia’s remaining India trip owing to Achilles tightness, and Mitchell Starc and Cam Green were unable to play in either of the first two Test matches as they heal from finger ailments. Pat Cummins, the captain, is unlikely to play in the final two Test matches. In order to represent Australia in the remaining games of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Steve Smith has been placed on standby. It’s still unknown if Cummins will participate in the ODI series. Meanwhile Smith will captain Australia in the ODI series as well if he doesn’t.
