Mr. S Jaishankar met his Danish counterpart Mr. Lars Lokke Rasmussen on the 28th of February 2023 to have a discussion on the bilateral partnership between India and Denmark. Both countries observed that their companionship is growing from “strength to strength”.
The Ministry of External Affairs, in a press release, informed that the Crown Prince, Frederik Andre Henrik Christian and Crown Princess, Mary Elizabeth arrived in India on Sunday and the meeting with Rasmussen is a part of the Denmark delegation.
In a news report dated 23rd February 2023, it was stated that the visit between India and Denmark will mark partnering for climate change mitigation and energy transitions.

Along the same lines, the Danish Crown Prince, during the ‘India-Denmark: Partners for green and sustainable progress conference’ said that the changes seen in India are astounding and India’s green transition is underway. He expressed his joy over the fact that both countries are taking concrete steps and are moving towards a greener future.
Christian further remarked, “With this conference, we have taken a new step closer to achieving a green future for all”. He later wished that the visit aid in flourishing the journey between them.
Inside India and Denmark meeting
On Twitter, Mr. S Jaishankar tweeted about the areas that were touched upon during the meeting with Mr. Rasmussen. He mentioned that they talked about bilateral partnership and simultaneously also exchanged views on the condition of the world (that requires cooperation from them).
The foreign minister also met the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark and shared with them various aspects of the New Delhi in making. The conversation specifically covered sustainability and digital delivery.
Vibrant relationship
Both are vibrant and open democracies that share a vivacious relationship especially, in economic and cultural realms.
Denmark’s major investments in India are found to be in sectors like harbor/port modernisation and expansion, beer breweries, agro-intermediates, and the engineering sector. India exports textiles, apparel, yarns, steel, chemical products, etc. to Denmark and imports medicinal goods, industrial machinery, organic chemicals, etc. Presently, more than 200 Danish companies are in India and over 60 Indian companies are located in Denmark.

The cultural friendship is also enriching between the two countries. India’s 75th Independence Day was celebrated in Copenhagen with a flag-hoisting ceremony. The Indian diaspora was happy to get a feeling similar to home there. As a part of the celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary, several events were organised comprising talks on Gandhiji and his life. The respect given to each other’s culture is a highly valuable feature of India-Denmark relations.
Focus currently
However, the ties in the sustainable development domain are deepening between the two. Interestingly, Denmark is the only nation with which India has a Green Strategic Partnership to establish a sustainable relationship.

The partnership focuses on cooperation in renewable energy, environmental policy, trade, climate policy, and science and technology. Additionally, the nations are also working to expand their partnership in the health and agricultural sector.
The two sides have inked a five-year Joint Action Plan through which they are engaged in growing cooperation in areas of water, science and technology, and climate change.
A sense of collectivity and cooperation is shown by India and Denmark. If the partnership grows without some sign of perfidy then, the relationship between the two can prove to be ground-breaking.
