According to the reports, a 31-year-old Colorado woman who has assented to her crime of committing statutory rape and getting impregnated by a teenager will face no imprisonment. At the time of the assault, the boy was 13 years old, also hailing from Colorado, and he remains unidentified due to his age.
The Fountain Police Department handcuffed Andrea Serrano (the sex offender) with the charges of sexual assault on the boy, as well as a sexual assault by one in a position of trust over the victim. The woman was detained at the El Paso Country Criminal Justice Center, and the case has stretched since June 27, 2022. Despite this, she was released on bond immediately after her arrest for an amount of $70,000.
On Friday, as a part of the plea agreement that her advocate reached with the prosecutor, the 31-year-old woman was required to register as a sexual offender. However, the court never imposed a prison sentence on the offender who committed the assault.
Serrano, who was pregnant with the 13-year-old’s child at the time of her arrest, gave birth to a baby boy last year. The child is still under her care. However, the victim’s family files an appeal with the court requesting the baby’s custody.
Serrano’s therapist brought the case to light. The therapist found out and came forward with the accusation, after which the police questioned the Colorado woman for the first time. After being questioned by the Fountain Police Department, Serrano eventually admitted to committing the horrible acts for which she was guilty.

On a local news channel, the victim’s mother lamented that she feels as if her son’s childhood was robbed. He is a child himself and has stepped into fatherhood at this tender age. The mother said that the young boy, now 13, will have to carry the weight of this tragedy for the rest of his life.
The severity of punishment would have been more stringent if the genders of the assaulter and the victim were reversed, the 13-year-old’s mother added. According to her, the authorities would have dug deeper if the assaulter was a man. However, that was not the case, therefore, they were compassionate toward her.
Since the state of Colorado considers incest to be a class four felony, the original accusation of incest has been reduced to a lesser offence. Reports suggest that Andrea Serrano may be given a term of “sex offender intense supervised probation” ranging from ten years to life by the court which will decide her fate.
The mother of the victim spoke to the judge in the case, who accepted to voice her displeasure. Although, the dialogue took place before the plea deal was signed. Many people are questioning if the court has served justice in this case. As it is, the plea deal has empowered Serrano to avoid imprisonment.

Reportedly, Serrano’s plea deal is subjected to alteration by the judge. At present, the plea deal is to lesser charges. However, the judge has the authority to extend the probation to “10 years of the life of sex offender intensive supervised probation.”
The length of her probation will be determined during the case hearing in May.
Serrano is facing two additional charges of a misdemeanour for violating the restraining order.
