VCT2023 LOCK//IN tournament, featuring 32 teams from around the world, has broken viewership records, becoming the second-most-watched event in VALORANT history.

The tournament showcased all the teams that will participate in the VALORANT regional leagues. The Grand Final between UK-based Fnatic and Brazilian team LOUD drew the most viewers. Despite criticisms of the best-of-one format, the event attracted around 1.43 million peak viewers and approximately 430,000 average viewers, according to Esports Charts. In response to the success of the tournament, The VALORANT Champions 2023 global championship tournament is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles, California, later this year, as announced by Riot Games.

LA to host the next VCT
Later this year, the world championship tournament for VALORANT, VCT2023, will be held in Los Angeles, California, as announced by Riot Games. The tournament will showcase 16 of the best teams from around the world, with the opening stages taking place at the Shrine Auditorium before heading to the KIA Forum for the final rounds.
If Riot manages to sell out the KIA Forum, which has a capacity of approximately 17,500 spectators, it has the potential to become the largest VALORANT tournament ever held. With Riot Games being based in Los Angeles, the tournament’s organization is expected to be slightly easier, leading to an incredible show for both those in attendance and those watching online.

Over the next few months, teams from all over the world will compete in regional leagues and international competitions to secure a place in the VALORANT Champions 2023 tournament. Once the 16 qualifying teams are determined, they will proceed to Los Angeles, making it the largest VALORANT tournament in history.
Riot Games will release further information regarding the dates and ticket sales as the event draws closer. It is important to note that prior to the Champions event, franchised leagues will be conducted worldwide on a regular basis throughout the year. While these leagues may not achieve the same viewership numbers as the Lock In event and last year’s world championship, they are crucial in maintaining interest and preventing a decline in viewership, as seen in the case of Overwatch.
