After the first season’s massive hit, The Rocket Boys will premiere its second season next week. Saba Azad, who plays the character Parvana Irani, aka Pipsy, talked about the upcoming season of Rocket Boys and recalled her audition days. She auditioned for the show in 2020 during the lockdown.

SonyLIV’s period drama “Rocket Boys” is based on the lives of Dr. Homi J. Bhabha and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. The much-anticipated second season of the series will release on March 16 on the SonlyLIV app. Actor Jim Sarbh is seen playing the role of Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, and the character of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai is portrayed by Ishwak Singh.
In Season 2 of Rocket Boys, we will see Saba Azad reprising her role as a lawyer.

In a conversation with a media house, the actress talked about her expectations for the upcoming season. She also discussed her audition and how she prepared herself for the role. She said that since the first season has been well received, the expectations for the next season are very high, as season 2 continues from where we left it last season.
Saba Azad Recalls Her Audition
Saba shared her experience of auditioning for the Rocket Boys. She said that when she received the call from Kavish Sinha, who is the casting director for the series, he told her to ace the role this time. Since she auditioned during the beginning months of lockdown, she had to do a self-test at home. The makers of the show were not satisfied with her audition as she looked too young for the role. To get this role, she went through multiple rounds of the test. Eventually, she was successful in getting the part in the series by recreating an old photograph. To recreate this, she simply changed her hair and clothes, and the role was in her hands.

Saba’s Experience in Rocket Boys
Saba shared her experience working on this project. The actress said that after being a part of this series, she got a chance to come across many beautiful projects. Further, she added that she has been a part of many films in the past, but she was never satisfied with her roles. People had fixed her image as a cute and sweet girl who fits well in the role of a college student.
The actress felt very frustrated about not being able to play some different kinds of roles. Fortunately, her interest in theatre and music kept her satisfied during this phase. She wanted to explore different characters, and with the Rocket Boys, she got a chance to play a different character from what she has been playing in the past. She said she is filled with gratitude that someone acknowledged her and thought that she could play different roles as well.

Saba Azad is a history student, and she has always been fascinated by history. That is the reason Saba could play the role effortlessly. Not just history, but every other vintage thing fascinates Saba. Saba said that she inclines toward the 30s era. She wears vintage clothes casually, and she sings jazz.
Other projects of Saba Azad
Apart from the upcoming season of Rocket Boys, we will get to witness Saba’s performance on other projects as well this year. Saba is part of the movie, Songs of Paradise. She will be playing the character of Raj Begum, who is a singer. The film is about the first female singer on Kashmiri radio. She will also be seen playing the role of a half-Belgian girl in the movie Minimum. Aside from these projects, the actor is also starring in a short film that is directed by Naseeruddin Shah.
