After the success of her last dark comedy, Wednesday, Jenna Ortega is coming back to the theaters with Scream VI.
One day before the release of her new movie in theaters and two days before her “Saturday Night Live” hosting stint, Jenna Ortega was invited on The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
Jenna Ortega played the role of Wednesday Addams in Wednesday’s first season. Released in November 2022, the series blew off Netflix viewership records unexpectedly.
The story showed her being emotionally unavailable and allergic to colors, so she only lived and wore dark and black clothes without any friends. She is shown to be deeply loved by her family, but on Wednesday she refrains from showing any kind of affection.
The initial episodes witnessed Wednesday included her dumping piranhas into her school’s pool against the group of boys on the water polo team who bullied her brother Pugsley, played by Issaac Ordonez.
Consequently, she was expelled, and for the 14th time in three months, she was admitted to a new academy. The only difference was that this was the famous place for the outcasts—Nevermore Academy in the town of Jericho, Vermont.
The Nevermore Academy was her parents’ choice; mother Morticia Addams was played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Father Gomez Addams was played by Luis Guzman. This was the same academy where her parents met, fell in love, graduated, and then later got married.

“My character find it difficult to make friends because I lack emotions and affection, but my completely opposite personality makes me an ideal roommate for Enid Sinclair Played by Emma Myers, who shows all her love toward Wednesday.” says Ortega.
Wednesday also seems to be stuck in a love triangle between Tyler Galpin, played by Hunter Doohan, and Xavier Thorpe, played by Percy Hynes White.
She later realizes she also has psychic powers like her mother’s and goes on a monster hunt.
Produced by Tim Burton, the series did great and is still the talk of the town even after three months after it was released. But Jenna seems to be in a controversy over the fact that she changed the lines of the script without the writer’s knowledge.
The 20-year-old actress opened on the show about her journey as Wednesday Addams and revealed that she did not feel comfortable with Wednesday being in a love triangle; she wanted Wednesday to be more independent and focused.
With the confirmation of another season in the works, Jenna expressed her desire for an Addams Family spin-off to be more horror and dark.
Ortega shared that she wasn’t provided with the whole script when she signed for the character and thought the series was going to be darker than she thought it would be.
She also felt that the character wasn’t getting her intimate situations, and it became more of a teen show with a group of friends solving the mystery outside of school.

Ortega’s efforts into the character certainly paid off as the show gave her so many opportunities. Jenna has also played young Jane in Jane the Virgin in 2014 and badass Ellie in season 2 of Netflix’s murder mystery You and is all set to bring her character, Tara Carpenter, to the sixth installment of the Scream franchise.
She plays the role of Sam’s half-sister and a survivor from the previous movie.
Jenna reveals that everyone thinks that she fits dark roles so perfectly, but she doesn’t want to be just known for that. She is thriving, and her favorite part of acting is action and cut; this is the only thing she loves about acting, and she thrives on it.
