Man Accused over alleged assault of Malaysian Actor

Psychiatric observation has been ordered for the man accused of attacking Malaysian star Kamal Adli.

A Malaysian actor was allegedly attacked at the Singapore Expo convention Centre on Sunday, and a 33-year-old man was charged in the incident on Tuesday (Mar 14).

The incident took place when Mr. Kamal and his wife, fellow actress Uqasha Senrose, appeared at the three-day Hari Raya Mega Sale 2023 event in Singapore Expo Hall 5A on the last day.

Using a video link from the jail where he is being held on remand, Muhammad Nabil Rashid attended a district court hearing. He is accused of employing a deadly weapon to intentionally cause harm.

At around 9.20 p.m. on Sunday in Singapore Expo Hall 5A, Nabil is said to have repeatedly struck Mr. Ahmad Kamal Ahmad Adli in the head with an extendable baton.

A heavily-tattooed man approached Mr. Kamal during a photo-taking session, according to Ms. Uqasha, who was notified by Mr. Roslan Shah, a celebrity presenter who had invited the couple to the event. Mr. Roslan Shah said he was not there during the incident.

According to Mr. Roslan, the man spoke to Mr. Kamal briefly before reportedly hitting him in the head with a baton, causing him to fall and strike his face on a table.

The accused attacker then carried on bashing Mr. Kamal’s body with the baton.

The charging document claims that as a result, Mr. Kamal suffered a 3 cm laceration on the back of his skull.

After District Judge Terence Tay granted the prosecution’s request, Nabil will be kept at the Institute of Mental Health for two weeks for psychiatric surveillance.

Nabil, who is not represented, said that he had nothing to say to the court. He was sporting a black T-shirt and a shaven head.

On March 28, he will be in court once more.

The Hari Raya Mega Sale 2023 at Singapore Expo brought Mr. Kamal and his actress wife, Mdm. Uqasha Senrose, to Singapore, according to an earlier report by Bernama.
