Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) is a rare, often but not always, the aggressive (fast-growing) form of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL).
The uncommon non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s subtype known as angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) develops from T-cells, a type of white blood cell that aids the immune system in fighting infections. Anemia, a low platelet count, and high levels of immunoglobulins are autoimmune-like signs of AITL, along with enlarged lymph nodes, fever, rash, and enlarged lymph nodes.
There are no recognised risk factors for AITL, and its precise cause is unknown. Physical examination, blood tests, imaging examinations, and a biopsy of the afflicted lymph nodes are frequently used to make the diagnosis.Chemotherapy is commonly used to treat AITL, frequently in conjunction with steroids and immunotherapy. Moreover, radiation therapy is applied in some circumstances. The stage and severity of the disease, as well as the person’s general condition, will all influence the therapy option. AITL has a generally dismal prognosis, with a median survival period of only two to three years. Yet, some people may benefit from the medication and experience a long-lasting remission. Monitoring disease development and addressing any symptoms or treatment side effects require close follow-up care.
