As actors, directors, and the A-list of show business came to celebrate the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 16, the charming French town of Cannes morphed into the Mecca of the world of entertainment. The red carpet was walked by more than 2,000 persons. The red carpet gauntlet that attendees had to cross to enter the Cannes Film Festival was over sixty feet long and comprised of 24 stairs. That is a distance of more than 60 feet to make an impression, produce a priceless moment, and draw attention from an audience.
The red carpet is the performance preceding the screening(s), and each year the jewels, skirts, and accessories seem to get brighter, frothier, and more spectacular.
Iconic red carpet appearances
Sarah Ali Khan-
In her first-ever Cannes red carpet debut, Sara Ali Khan stood out amid a flurry of large costumes and large jewels. Sara donned an ivory lehenga that she picked up from the Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla collection. She was wearing a long, flowing veil that was pinned to her updo. She kept her makeup to a minimum and let her clothing speak for itself. With a pair of stunning drop earrings, she completed the ensemble.

Sara uploaded multiple photos of herself posing for the camera to her Instagram. The post’s caption read, “You Cannes do it.” A fan responded to the images by claiming that Sara was a true representation of India and a royal figure.
Manushi Chhillar-
On the red carpet, Miss World 2017 and actor, Manushi Chhillar made an elegant appearance. Manushi looked like a living princess in her extravagant gown, which included a white lace bodice and a coordinating trail that sweeping across the ground behind her. Manushi wore a white gown designed by Fovari to make her Cannes debut. She enhanced her look with strappy neon shoes in addition to her gorgeous dress. She added a dramatic necklace to the outfit as if it weren’t already striking enough.

Urvashi Rautela-
Bollywood actor, Urvashi Rautela, who never ceases to wow us with her style choices, had an unforgettable entrance at the Cannes, 2023. When she showed up on the opening day of the event in France, she chose a hot pink fuzzy gown. Her distinctive neckpiece, which was fashioned to resemble a crocodile or lizard, was what everyone noticed. Netizens have been trolling the actress online targeting the same.

Esha Gupta-
Esha Gupta, Bollywood actor and lead character of the movie Jannat 2, had her red carpet debut. Esha, who is part of the delegation representing the Indian government at the festival, joined the opening ceremony and the film premiere for the festival’s opening picture, Jeanne Du Barry, which stars Johnny Depp in his comeback role. Esha strolled the red carpet in a delicate pink gown with a slit that reached her thighs. The dress was enhanced by an over-the-top collar and small lace flowers around the neck.

Johnny Depp-
The superstar received cheers as he graced the red carpet after taking a three-year break from acting because of a legal dispute with his ex-wife Amber Heard. The opening of the film festival, “Jeanne Du Barry,” in which he plays King Louis XV, was met with a standing ovation.

Michael Douglas
Actor, Michael Douglas, made a statement on the Cannes red carpet. His wife, the actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, and daughter Carys, who was attending Cannes for the first time, were with him. Zeta-Jones was stunning in a red Elie Saab gown featuring a plunging neckline, while Douglas looked handsome in a black and white suit. While Carys wore a delicate white laced Elie Saab dress with noodle straps. Douglas was honoured with a Palme d’Or award.

Elle Fanning
Elle Fanning made an entry on the red carpet with an original Alexander McQueen gown that parodied one of the most notable designs from its Fall 2023 collection, softening the bodice of a beaded dress inspired by orchids with a blush skirt.
