Brazil’s Supreme Court has authorised a full fledged probe into Jair Bolsonaro and his kins’ finances post a claim made by a Brazilian hacker on Thursday.
Supreme Court’s Justice Alexandre de Moraes has given authorisation to all investigators to probe deeply into Jair Bolsonaro and his wife’s private phone records,as well as bank details.
This comes after a hacker accused the ex-president of tampering with the electronic voting machines and ordering him to hack into those machines in order to change the voting results. Walter Delgatti, a Brazilian hacker came forward with this claim on Thursday saying that Bolsonaro asked him to “consult” officials in the defence ministry regarding the “request”
This claim proves the allegation that the Brazilian elections last year were prone to fraudulent activities in the presidential campaign. Subsequently, reports also claim that Bolsonaro offered Delgatti a pardon in case any legal liability falls on the hacker. A revelation by Delgatti also came to light as he claimed to be given a “blank cheque” by the former Brazilian president to get the task done.

After the Justice’s official authorisation to gain full access to the phone and bank records of Jair and Michelle Bolsonaro, it has further empowered the police and lawmakers to investigate the allegation. There have also been other cases for which Bolsonaro is still being scrutinised– one of them being his alleged role in forming a protest into government buildings post his defeat.
Michelle Bolsonaro, his wife, took to Instagram and posted her statement expressing her displeasure and anger over the recent row. She challenged the Supreme Court’s decision to access her tax and banking details by saying “Just ask me!”. She further alleged that this act is a political persecution aimed at tarnishing her family’s image and name.
