NewJeans, 1st K-pop girl group to chart 3 songs for 5 weeks in Billboard Hot 100.
New jeans are enjoying their songs unprecedented success as their song chart in Billboard’s Hot 100.
Billboard on August 15th revealed that NewJeans’ super hit single ‘super shy’ had claimed to No.66 on their Hot 100 chart (as it is ranked as one of the most popular songs in US, in a weekly ranking), for the 5th consecutive week.
After their songs success and topping the Billboard chart, NewJeans has become the first K-pop girl group to achieve this mark, following BTS who are on no.1 amongst the K-pop artist. And NewJeans are the second K-pop group to achieve this huge success and chart three different songs of them for five weeks continuously each on the Hot 100. NewJeans’ “OMG” and “Ditto” both have spent 5 weeks on the Billboard’s chart earlier this year and now “Super Shy” has achieved the same.
“Get Up” which is NewJeans’ latest mini album stayed strong in its third week at No.12 on the Billboard 200, which makes their album a second K-pop girl group album in history to spend three continuous weeks in top 15. Blackpink’s album named “THE ALBUM” in 2020 was the first girl group album to achieve the same mark as NewJeans.
Their album “Get Up” also ranked on No.1 this week on Testemaker Albums chart, which in addition makes it to spend its third week in a row at No.1 on the World Album Chart. It also swept off the No.2 spot on both Top Current Album Sales Chart and Top Album Sales Chart.
Meanwhile, numerous tracks from their album “Get up” held a steady position on both Billboard’s global charts. “Super Shy” ranked No.5, on the Global Excl.U.S. chart, followed by “ETA” which is at No.8, “NewJeans” at No.37, “Cool with you” which is on No.54 and “ASAP” being on No.109.
Super Shy climbed back to No.7 on Global 200, along with ETA, NewJeans, Cool with You, and ASAP. “ETA” this week on World Digital Songs Sales Chart rose at No.9.
Finally, on Billboard’s Artist 100 NewJeans maintained their position at No.6. Which marks at their seventh week on the Chart.
They have managed to achieve such a huge mark on the chart with the six months into their career. NewJeans has now also become the fastest first K-pop girl group to ever enter the Hot 100 with their three songs. Which they achieved in less than a year after their debut.
NewJeans is formed by ADOR, and it is composed of five group members’ names: Hanni, Haerin, Minji, Hyein and Danielle. They debuted in 2022. NewJeans is believed to join BTS and Blackpink in terms of being successful.
