Manpreet Monica Singh: First Female Sikh Judge of US
Manpreet Monica Singh was born and bought up in Houston
The early years
Manpreet’s father immigrated to US in the early 1970’s
She lives with her husband and two children in Bellaire
Monica has been a lawyer for over 20 years
She has been active in several civil rights groups at the local, state, and national level
In 2010, she was named as the Houston Young Lawyers Association’s Most Outstanding Attorney
In 2017, She has also won the Distinguished Member Award from South Asian Bar Association
At her oath taking ceremony she said “it means a lot to me because I represent H-Town (a nickname of Houston) the most, so for it to be us. I’m happy for it.”
She also served on the board of directors of the American civil liberties union of Texas Lyceum, and the Sikh Coalition
