IND-W vs ENG-W 2023 Test Match

IND-W vs ENG-W One-off Test was played from 14th December to 17th December in  DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Harmanpreet Kaur led the Indian team on the home ground while Heather Knight captained the England squad. India with its Reckless attacking intent, won the match by 347 runs.

India’s dominance from Day 1

On Day one of IND-W vs ENG-W, after the Indian team won the toss and chose to bat with Shuba Satheesh scoring 69(76), Jemimah Rodrigues 68(99), Yastika Bhatia 66(88) and the Indian skipper one run away from her half-century, India put up the total of 346/6 with the end of the day playing 75 overs . Indian Team was dominating over the England bowlers with their attacking intent from Day 1 .

Deepti Sharma enjoys 9 wicket haul

On Day 2, India managed to score 428/10 playing 104.3 overs with Deepti Sharma scoring 67(113) with Lauren Bell and S. Ecclestone taking 3 wickets. England in their massive chase lost their first wicket as Dunkley got out making 11 runs in 2.5 overs. Heather Knight could not help her team as she got out on LBW by scoring 11 runs on the ball of Pooja Vastrakar . India managed to collapse the opponent team at 136/10 with Deepti Sharma taking 5 wickets and India trailing by 292 runs. In India’s second Inning, they made a collective score of 186/6 in 42 overs with Captain Harmanpreet Kaur at 44* called off their inning on Day 3 leading by 477 runs.

England scored 131/10 in 27.1 overs with Deepti Sharma taking 4 wickets and India winning the IND-W vs ENG-W with a thumping score of 347 making a record.  The previous record was made by Sri Lanka with a winning margin of 309 against Pakistan. Indian Women’s Cricket Team was seen celebrating their well-deserved victory on the pitch of DY Patil Stadium. Deepti Sharma was seen enjoying her 9-wicket victory haul. Deepti Singh with her thrashing balling figure of 9/38 and scoring 67 with bat became The Player of the Match. This is India’s first win against England on home ground in the last 15 Tests.

Indian Skipper Harmanpreet said, “Everything went according to the plan. We got the score we wanted and ballers did a good job.”  While talking to a news reporter”. It’s the confidence they carry because England is a  strong side. They (India) just got a taste of what Test cricket is all about.” says the Indian coach Amol Muzumdar ahead of India’s massive victory. BCCI Women’s Twitter account shared a happy post saying ” ‘Boosters’ on the shoes Solid bowling display and plans. ‘favorite’ celebration post win” said Harleen Deol to Vastrakar.

This record-breaking match is going to boost the Indian team’s confidence ahead of one more test series against Australia on the home soil which is going to begin from 21st December,2023 in the historic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
