Daytime Emmy winner, Tyler Christopher, who was also infamous for his roles in the general hospital and the days of our lives, reportedly passed away at the age of 50 in San Diego surrendering to a cardiac arrest on October 31, 2023.
His death was confirmed by his rep Chi Muoi Lo who gave the official statement to the NY post. The statement mentioned that he was able to certify that Tyler Christopher died that morning. He also, said that he was deeply saddened by this loss, and this news was extremely shocking. Not only was he an exceptionally talented actor, but he was also a fantastic friend. The news was also confirmed by one of his ‘General Hospital’ co-stars, Maurice Bernard through an Instagram post. He mentioned that Tyler was an incredibly gifted person who was delighted in using his acting to make his devoted fans smile in every scene he played. He also called Tyler, a wonderful friend and sweet soul. Frank Valentini, the executive producer of the show ‘General Hospital’ said that he was extremely heartbroken over the news of Tyler’s demise. He also called Tyler a kind person and an incredible actor. The fans across the globe are grieving and praying for their friends and family.
Tyler was known to be suffering from bipolar depression and substance abuse disorder. He was always very transparent about his condition and advocated mental health all around.
Tyler was best known for his work in the medical drama- The General Hospital. He played the role of Nikolas Cassidine. He played the character from 1996 till 2016. He won a daytime Emmy for outstanding lead actor in Drama series for the same in 2016. He then played the role of Stefan DiMera in the Days Of Our Lives from 2017 to 2019 for which he bagged a daytime Emmy award as well. Some of his other works include Into the West (2005), Shouting Secrets (2011).
Tyler was born in Illinois to James W. Baker and Jimi Ann Stewart. He got married to Brienne Pedigo in 2008. They have two children together- Greysun James Christopher and Boheme Christopher. They got divorced in 2021 and he was reportedly single after that. Before Brienne, the actor was married to Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004. At one point, he was also engaged to his fellow general hospital co-stars Vanessa Marcil and Natalia Livingston.
Tyler was most recently taken into custody at the Hollywood Burbank Airport in May 2023 for public intoxication. Later, he was freed on bail and had to pay a small fine. The GH actor was previously taken into custody in 2019 for public intoxication after dozing off in the back of an Uber.
