IND-W vs AUS-W T20 three-match series has begun on Friday( January 05) in Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. IND-W won the first match of the series by 9 wickets as Young talent Titas Sadhu celebrated her 4-wicket Haul. India now leads by 1-0.

Australia scores 141/10

After a historic Test win against Australia and losing 3 consecutive ODI matches, the Indian Cricket team was all set to repeat the scenario of one off Test Match against Australia in the T20 format. IND-W won the toss and chose to bowl. Openers of the Australian team AJ Healy and B. L. Mooney could not successfully gather many runs as the 19-year-old Titas Sadhu opened her fiery spell to take B . L. Mooney’s early wicket in 3.5 overs. The further shocker in the form of AJ Healy’s wicket came when Harmanpreet Kaur caught the bowl in 4.3 overs.

Australia was standing at 32/2 when vice-captain Tahlia Mc Grath got a duck out in the 5.5 overs. Indian pacer Titas Sadhu further sent the Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner back into the pavilion without scoring a run in the next ball itself. From here a long partnership of 79 runs between Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry helped Australia to return to the game. Litchfield lost her wicket in 14.4 overs with one run left for her half-century and Amarjot Kaur got her first wicket of the match. With G. Harris LBW by Shreyanka Patil, the quick fall of wickets began dramatically.

Annabel Sutherland scored 12 runs before getting out in 17.5 overs against Titas Sadhu. With this wicket, Titas Sadhu enjoyed her 4-wicket haul. E. Perry’s Caught Out and M. Schutt’s LBW by Deepti Sharma in the 18th over left the Australian Team in a problem. With 137/9, Georgia Wareham couldn’t do much as she returned to the dressing room with 5 runs. The Australian Team got all out at 141/10 in 19.2 overs.

Opening partnership of 137 runs

With a low run chase of 142, Indian Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma took the game in their hand and with a long partnership of 137 runs erased all the possibilities for the opposition to return back into the game. This was the best first-wicket partnership of Indian Women cricket team against Australia in the T20I. After scoring 54 off 52 balls, Smriti Mandhana got caught out in 15.2 overs. The finishing touches were added to the one-sided game by Jemimah Rodrigues with a boundary alongside Shafali Verma with a successful knock of 64*.

Both the young talents Tatia Sadhu and Shafali Verma exhibited their stellar set of skills alongside their attacking intent. Tatia Sadhu became The Player of the Match for her incredible spell of 4/17 (4).The 19-year old gave the credit to the advice she got from Jhulan Goswami. The second match of the series will play a decisive role as the Australian Team will try to bounce back for the series win while the women in blue will try to uphold their dominance over the home ground.
