Global sensation BLACKPINK member, Lisa has shared a cryptic teaser on her Instagram account, igniting speculation that a new project could be on its way from the K-Pop idol. In an Instagram story post shared today, the rapper showed off an exclusive never-before-seen photo of herself alongside the caption: “Coming soon” with the date ‘February 8’.

It’s currently not clear if the teaser is a hint at new music, or presumably a fashion project instead – as the star has previously collaborated with brands like Bulgari and for French fashion house, Celine.

Lisa’s new solo project

BLACKPINK member, Lisa is one of the most well-known K-pop stars in the world and she has achieved multiple milestones in 2023. She grabbed the headlines soon after renewing her contract with YG Entertainment, however the four members have decided to go their separate ways for the solo projects. Lisa’s cryptic sneak peek today has taken the internet by a storm with hashtags going viral all-over social media platforms, sending fans into a frenzy.

After her solo performance at the 2024 Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes on January 27th, this new update has her admirers stunned. In the 2024 Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes, Lisa delivered an incredible performance on her hit-song Money. She even shared the stage with DJ Snake to perform their collaboration song SG, also interacted with A$AP Rocky, and clicked a picture with Rihanna.

After her Paris schedule, she went radio-silent until today to drop the bomb on her fans with the “Coming Soon” poster in black and white. Some fans assumed that it could be an announcement for an upcoming LiliFilm—Lisa’s official YouTube channel where she regularly posts dance covers, vlogs, and more. Some others speculated that it could either be related to her new solo single or a brand partnership.

These speculations were rooted from instances where another BLACKPINK member, Jennie launched her independent label, Odd Atelier (OA). The idol has described it as “a space which targets to create new things that attract attention in an alternative way from what is usual or expected”.

Meanwhile, Jisoo has reportedly established a sub-label called Blissoo with her brother, according to a report by The Korea Herald. That leaves only Lisa and Rosé who are yet to announce their future plans as solo artists. Last year, fans saw the group perform in their biggest ever British show at Hyde Park, where they attracted celebrities including Hugh Grant.  BLACKPINK is popularly known for their jaw-dropping performances that impress the audience, garnering attention from singers like Justin Bieber, DJ Snake, and even Ariana Grande.

BLACKPINK’s seven-year contract with YG Entertainment terminated in August 2023. And after that, it took some months for the agency to announce the final verdict on the contract renewal. The four singers renewed only the group contract with YG Entertainment in December 2023 but ended their solo exclusive contracts with the company.

Lisa is also a global ambassador for celebrated French luxury fashion house Celine, a position which she has held since 2020, per Harper’s Bazaar. Meanwhile, her last solo music release was back in 2021 with her debut single album, ‘Lalisa’.

The teaser was also released just a month after YG Entertainment confirmed that all the members of BLACKPINK, including Lisa, would not be renewing their individual contracts with the company. However, the members have signed an “exclusive contract for group activities” with YG Entertainment, after following a long negotiation process. BLINKS (their fandom name) are eagerly waiting for all four artists to release their solo projects and begin their second-world tour.
