The game began with Ryan Gravenberch’s first goal for the team, and the Dutch midfielder capped a promising outing with a tap-in following a handling blunder by goalie Anthony Moris.

Despite making nine changes from their contentious loss at Tottenham on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp and his players dominated possesion right away.

Due to the efforts of Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota, the Reds are able to earn all three points. Overall, Liverpool was by much the superior team, but numerous missed opportunities to score during the game, along with Anthony Moris’ brilliant play in goal for Union SG, gave the visitors more optimism as the game went on.

But in the end, Jurgen Klopp managed to win and keep a clean sheet. He will now prepare his players for the weekend Premier League match at Brighton.

And following that, Reds manager Klopp said on TNT Sport:

“It’s a really good start. We lost rhythm slightly and gave too many set-pieces away. It was a really good beginning, lost rhythm and then played too much around the formation rather than in the formation. Should have had more direction and all these kinds of things, but you take what you can get in these moments and I thought we were really mature and professional but we could have been a lot better in a lot of moments.”

After Cody Gakpo was hurt and Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota received suspensions from Tottenham, Jurgen Klopp will be happy to see that all of his players avoided any injuries. Liverpool travels to Brighton on Sunday in an effort to rebound from their humiliating loss on Saturday.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp plans to make changes ahead of a crucial Premier League meeting at fellow high-flyers Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. Alisson, the team’s first-choice keeper, will likely start in goal nonetheless after Caoimhin Kelleher sustained a severe injury on the practice field.
