Prime Minister of Greece Faces No-Confidence Vote

 The Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis survived a no-confidence vote on March 28th, over the horrifical accident of train crash in 2023. The train crash accident killed over 57 people. As per the media reports there has been a major play upon the evidences. 

The Leftist  parties , which are in the opposition have blatantly blamed the Conservative government of not telling the truth and hiding it about the collision of the freight train to a passenger train in Greece. This is considered to be one of the most horrific accident in the history of Greece.

Train Crash Incident in Central Greece

The Conservative government has refused from accepting any kind of allegations made against them.

The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis , said that to the Parliament before the voting started that, the voting should be in the fovour of that goverment , which will ensure that Greece moves forward despite the difficulties that lies in front of them.

The census motion showed that everyone around is full of rage and disappointment by the horrific disaster of train crash. The train crash exposed the mismanagement and mishandling in railways , that have continued for years now.

As mentioned in a news article in Reuters, the experts believe that  only little has been changed since the time of the train crash incident in Central Greece.

Charges and Allegations 

As reported by Reuters, a prosecutor of European Union has charged eighteen Greek  officials. They have been charged for seeking to illegally extend the installalltion of safety railway systems project of 2014.

 A Greek Magistrate is investigating the train crash, the investigation is expected to be finished in a few months. As of now, the station master is in the custody, whose trial is still pending and besides the station master also, there are many people who have been charged in this case. 

As per Reuters,  Vima newspaper  reported about a leaked voice recording of the train driver and the station master. The recording started to float in Grrek public media, right after the train crashing. It is being said that the recording clip has been purposely edited to show that the train crash was a result of the human fault instead of the failure of railway network system. However, there are no concrete evidences to confirm this.

What more do we know about the Train Crash?

It is being reported that 2 Minsters who are close to the Prime Minister, gave their resignation on March 28th. 

As per the families of the victims and the investigators involved by their families, right after the train crash, the gravels were laid down and carriages that were burnt were removed and this must have played a crucial role in damaging the potential evidences. The victims and their families have come up with a petition to bring changes to the existing laws and rules that somehow safeguard the prosecution and also the politicians. The petition has successfully gathered around 1.3 million people who have willingly signed the petition. 

Conclusion

Prior to the train crash incident, there was no national investigation body in Greece to deal with such incidents. Prime Minster,Mitsotakis party believes that the members of the opposition party are deliberately damaging the case to gain political benifits for themselves.
