Suella Braverman Fired: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak fired the country’s interior minister, an Indian-Origin, Suella Braverman.

As part of a reshuffle of the top team of ministers, Suella got racked up. This comes because Rishi Sunak faces increasing pressure to fire Suella Braverman after she was accused of inciting violence on Armistice Day.

Suella Braverman confronted Rishi Sunak last week by publishing an article condemning the police’s behavior of a march on Saturday. She was chastised for inflaming tensions and encouraging right-wing protesters to take to London’s streets, putting Rishi Sunak under pressure to act.

What did Suella Braverman say in the protest?

Suella Braverman, in a highly unusual attack on the police, said last week that London’s police force was ignoring law-breaking by “pro-Palestinian mobs,” referring to demonstrators calling for a cease-fire in Gaza as “hate marchers.”

She also added that “The sick, inflammatory, and in some cases obviously criminal chants, placards, and paraphernalia openly displayed at the march represent a new low Anti-Semitism and other forms of racism, as well as the valorising of terrorism on such a large scale, are deeply troubling.

When she was in her senior UK Cabinet role, the 43-year-old Goan-origin minister has repeatedly courted controversy. Armed forces minister James Heappey, speaking to the media, distanced himself from Suella Braverman’s controversial comments about the meeting with Police last week.

He said “there has been far too much second-guessing of the Metropolitan Police by politicians in the media,” adding that he would not have used the words used by Suella Braverman, echoing UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.

According to an internal news agency, Foreign Secretary “James Cleverly,” would replace her. Former Prime Minister David Cameron was seen walking into Downing Street as Sunak began to reshuffle his ministerial team, sparking speculation that he would return to government.

Last week, an article accusing police of using “double standards” in dealing with protests, an argument that opposition Labour claimed inflamed tensions at a pro-Palestinian demonstration on Saturday. Then, after far-right counter-protesters clashed with police, who tried to keep them away from the 300,000 pro-Palestinian marchers, more than 140 people were arrested.

According to the ministry of external affairs, Sunak is anticipated to make more changes to his cabinet, bringing in allies and removing ministers who have not been performing well in their departments.

What Braverman is prominent for?

Braverman, a potential Conservative Party leader, has consistently condemned the tens of thousands of demonstrators who have gathered in London since Hamas’ attack on Israel last month. Braverman has dubbed the rallies “hate marches and mobs.”

On October 10, Braverman issued a warning to police chiefs for displaying Palestinian flags on UK streets. According to a news agency, she stated that waving the flag may not be legal if it is perceived as a show of support for terrorism.
