Sonia Gandhi’s take on India’s decision to skip the UN vote on the Israel -Hamas War

On the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel with great violence, killing over a thousand people—mostly civilians—and kidnapping over 200 more. It was extremely devastating for those who lived in Israel. The lengthy Israel-Palestine conflict has taken a toll in recent months. It began many years ago.

Sonia Gandhi denounces India’s decision to skip the UN vote on the Israel-Hamas war

Sonia Gandhi, the former chief, said on Monday that the Congress is “strongly opposed” to India’s refusal to vote on the recent UN resolution on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Sonia Gandhi went on to add that even though her party had strongly denounced Hamas’s attacks, the tragedy is made worse by the Israeli state’s present emphasis on retaliating against a population that is, for the most part, defenceless and innocent. She continued by saying that direct negotiations for a sovereign, independent state have long been a party platform item.

“The vicious attacks on Israel diminished us all together. Israel’s disproportionate and equally brutal response now diminishes all of us. How many more people must die before our society’s conscience is awakened?

Sonia Gandhi went on to say that the unprecedented strike against Israel was incredibly cruel and devastating. The Indian National Congress continued to denounce the attack, stating that they thought violence had no place in the world.  At this moment, the power of the Israeli state is directed toward exacting revenge on a population that is both helpless and fundamentally innocent.  Destroying men, women, and children who are unrelated to the Hamas attack but who have, for the most part, endured decades of discrimination and suffering is one of the world’s most powerful military arsenals.

According to her writing, “the trial of humanity has begun.” Gandhi went on to say that thousands of people had died as a result of the Israeli military’s “indiscriminate operations” in and around Gaza, many of them innocent men, women, and children. These acts have made the tragedy even more severe.

The bulk of Israelis are innocent and defenseless at this point, and the Israeli state’s power is centered on exacting revenge. The world’s men, women, and children are in danger of being destroyed by one of the most powerful military arsenals in history.

With its two million people crammed into crowded cities and camps for refugees, Gaza has become an “open-air prison” due to Israel’s relentless blockade that has been in place for more than 15 years, according to her.

Israeli settlers in Jerusalem and the West Bank have been driving Palestinians off their own land with the support of the Israeli government, supposedly in an effort to undermine the idea of a two-state solution. Only in the event that states possessing the authority to formulate policies rule the globe

She said that the Congress has never wavered in its unwavering belief that both Israelis and Palestinians have a right to live in a just peace. We are appreciative of the Israelites’ friendship. The horrific history of the Palestinian people’s years-long forced exile from their ancestral homeland and the denial of their fundamental right to a life of dignity and respect, however, should not be disregarded.

We express our gratitude to the Israelites for their friendship. However, this does not absolve us of the terrible history of the Palestinian people’s years-long forced exile from their ancestral homeland and the denial of their basic right to a life of respect and dignity, she stated

The entire region is being devastated by the truly inhumane nature of the war. The war has crippled the entire region. Women, Children and men are facing the atrocities of it. She went on to say that there is not any food or fresh water in the area. she

She denounced the Indian government for not allowing voters to weigh in on the current state of affairs.
