Illnesses trouble everyone every year. Looking towards 2023, it will be seen that mosquito-borne diseases and respiratory infections have greatly affected the people of this country. Along with this, the increasing number of heart diseases among young people has also disturbed the doctors. 2023 is going to end again with the fear of covid. And to keep an eye on Bengal, the beginning of the year was kept in fear by Adenovirus and by the end of the year, the new species of Covid.

Adenovirus

At the beginning of the year, corona cases of adenovirus among children increased in Kolkata. Fever-respiratory problems lead to death of children one after another. The wailing of hospital beds began. Without access to a pediatric ICU, families have to turn back with one critical child after another. Not only Kolkata, this disease is increasing at a significant rate all over India. Children start suffering from fever, cold, and cough at home. The existence of adenovirus is found in the body of many children. Again this disease causes panic in the middle of the year. The state health department, however, has not given the specific statistics of the affected.

However, due to corona, children with symptoms of fever, cold, cough are crowded outdoors in government hospitals. Particularly in February, the state witnessed a severe outbreak of adenovirus among children. Children’s hospitals were overflowing. A task force has been formed to deal with the situation and fever clinics have to be opened in all government hospitals besides carrying out special operations.

Highest dengue infection in 12 years

According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, as of early November 2023, more than 4.5 million dengue cases have been reported from 80 countries worldwide. The graph of dengue cases in whole Bengal was very alarming. Even at the beginning of winter, the number of infections is frightening. Every year during the monsoon, dengue infection takes a terrible form. The statistics of dengue cases this year also created concern. Dengue is practically a snack to deal with.

According to the statistics of Bengal, the number of dengue cases in the state till December 6 is 1 lakh 3 thousand. Which is highest in last 12 years. The number of dengue cases in 16 districts of South Bengal is 9 thousand 17 people. North 24 Parganas tops the state in terms of dengue cases. 27 thousand 760 people are infected with dengue in North 24 Parganas. The number of dengue victims in Kolkata is 10 thousand 74 people. Apart from dengue, this year many people were also infected with other vector-borne diseases like Zika and Chikungunya.

Chinese pneumonia

Mysterious pneumonia is increasing after corona. By November, infectious diseases had rocketed through China. As a result, there is a fear that pneumonia can stop in this country? Experts did not dismiss the fear. However, the central government had already warned about learning from the corona situation. Guidelines are sent to all states and Union Territories by the Centre.

In this situation, the administration is thinking of increasing surveillance to stop the sale and use of antibiotics in drug stores without prescription. Doctors are repeatedly warning. This year, the cases of multidrug resistance in India have worried the doctors.

This time the new sub variant of Corona JN.1 is eye-catching. There have already been reports of deaths of corona patients. But so far, doctors do not consider this new subspecies of corona or the increase in new infections to be alarming. Guidelines have been issued by the Union Ministry of Health for all states and Union Territories. All government hospitals have been asked to be prepared for an increase in the number of patients admitted with respiratory problems.
