On Saturday, six European nations- Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Finland suspended backing for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine’s refugees( UNRWA)

As reported by Reuters, the move follows similar conduct taken by the United States, Australia and Canada, impacting backing for the aid agency vital for supporting individualities in Gaza, as these allegations were raised by Israel .

These opinions follow allegations that some UNRWA staff were intertwined in the October 7 deadly Hamas attack on Israel. 

UN chief Antonio Gutierrez has urged countries that halted the backing for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, to continue its operations.

Established in 1949 by the UN General Assembly( UNGA) to give relief finances to all the refugees reacted from the 1948 conflict Its major purpose is to give direct relief under services analogous as education, health care, social services and so on. The biggest UN agency operating in Gaza which provides humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, under the supervision of Commissioner general,PhilippeLazzarini.It employs around 13,000 people inside Gaza.

However, the UN secretary-general stressed that the thousands of people who work for the organization should not be penalized.

Mr. Gutteres ‘ remark came after a highly worded reaction from UNRWA’s chief, Philippe Lazzarini, who called the effort to withhold money “shocking” given the small number of workers facing Israeli claims.

Some countries have announced that they will continue to help UNRWA, Norway’s representative to the Palestinian Authority stated that the organisation plays a “ vital part “ in aid distribution and emphasised the significance of distinguishing between what individualities may have done and what UNRWA stands. 

Encouraging farther patron suspensions, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said UNRWA should be replaced formerly fighting in the enclave dies down and criminate it of ties to Islamist crusaders in Gaza,
